Pultrusion

Pultrusion is a highly automated production process to fabricate profiles of fibre reinforced plastics.The pultrusion process shows a clear resemblance with the extrusion of for instance aluminum and thermoplastics. In the extrusion process a molten material is pushed (under high pressure) through a die, while in pultrusion a bundle of fibres, wetted with resin, is pulled through a heated die. Polymerization of the resin occurs as the wetted fibres pass through the die, forming a continuous, rigid profile corresponding to the orifice shape. The pultrusion process ensures stability of dimension, precisely placed fibres and a smooth, closed surface.
